Hal, I don’t think you have a more enthusiastic or supportive group of people than our group of 25 active traders. We routinely discuss in our meetings and emails what new things we are learning from you that no one else out there seems to tell us, and these are very important topics. We are very appreciative of your willingness and openness of sharing with us some of your “trade secrets†on trading. Your earnest desire to teach is very evident, we’ve learned so much from you. You are a very talented trader and instructor and all of us feel that we are so glad we found you and TUG! Your week-end roundup is always forwarded to our entire membership. Jim R. - TTG
The trader user group training videos are excellent. Best I have seen in 4 years of trading options. The teaching is clear and easy to follow. Lots of vivid examples..and you can revisit as many times as you want. Great value....A key part of the leaning is the platform examples Hal explains for every strategy discussed...in a unique and comprehensive way. Best value out there
I have been a TUG member for a year now and during that time have learned more about trading and more importantly about capital preservation than I ever learned during years of trading or from other mentors, some of whom were much more expensive than TUG. Hal seems to almost love teaching as much as he does trading. He makes his points clearly and concisely but he is always patient and really takes interest in his students. In trading we are always wanting the best return on capital and TUG membership is that, you gain much more from TUG membership than you invest in the membership and the higher the level of membership you choose the more you gain.
I am a retired investment banker with extensive experience in stocks, bonds, mortgage finance and corporate finance. A few years ago I decided to learn technical analysis and options trading and after investing over $10,000 in education I am, at best, at an early intermediate stage. After taking courses from some of the nationally known providers, I fortuitously stumbled upon TUG on the internet. I sampled a few a la carte courses and sat in on one PMT, and I signed up for full membership just a few weeks ago. Hal is an excellent instructor and his education programs alone are well worth the membership fee. I tend to be a loner, but options trading has humbled me to the point where I realize I need help, and TUG provides a huge support system for its members. In addition to the twice weekly PMT, there is an on-going daily chat room with Hal and other traders offering invaluable guidance and insight. I am so impressed with the value received from joining TUG and grateful that I have finally found the education and support needed for this very complicated field.
Hey Hal …. Just wanted to shoot you a quick e-mail to say thanks ….
Last Thursday, my brother and I were in a shaky trade … your analysis of the market together with your “hunch†suggested an up move at the opening followed-up by a downturn …. Sure enough things opened up – I grabbed my brother out of a meeting – told him what I gathered listening to you and convinced him that we should ditch this bad risk/reward trade …. By 3 in the afternoon, he tells me “your morning guy is looking like a genius on this oneâ€
Saved us multiple thousands … I guess the annual traders group fee paid off
Enjoy your trip to Europe and have a really good Christmas
Joining TUG and having access to all the material Hal Brent makes available on his site is the best investment I have ever made in improving my trading expertise. I have been trading for about 15 years, and I have spent well over $10,000 on various courses and training. The TUG site is by far the best, most valuable, most fun, and most worthwhile of all previous expenditures, without question.
Hal is a wonderful exemplar of combining macro and technical analysis with very focussed and well thought through option strategies. Some of the nuances on the strategies (in particular diagonals) are really useful (and I admit ones which I had not thought of). Although I am a new member I will definitely be a long term subscriber. The ability to view replays of premarket sessions and education series and skype group contact is great.
I was a conservative buy and hold equity investor who followed all the standard acceptable investment rules yet my account was decimated by the dot.bomb bubble and then again by the 2008 bank failures. Hal has provided me an education of practical and immediately usable information which has helped me avoid a number of mistakes and has made me a better investor. I have been able to apply his methods to both my 401k account and to now a trading account. The TUG group provides a plethora of new investing ideas. Hal is very generous with his knowledge and time. I am grateful to have found such a group.
I have recently joined the TUG user group, the skype group, and the pre market group. Hal\'s knowledge and skill are evident but most importantly to me are his willingness and \"ability\" to teach. In my 30 years of trading experience I have found that just because a person is a good trader doesn\'t automatically qualify him as a good teacher. Hal, I believe, possesses both qualities. In addition I have found the quality and content of the website to be superb! I look forward to years of working with these knowledgeable people.
I am a member of Hal\'s premarket calls and Skype Group. Both Hal\'s feel for the various investment markets and his fundamental and technical expertise are fantastic. I am an experienced trader and money manager that is in awe of Hal\'s knowledge and willingness to teach his subscribers while not holding anything back. I would highly recommend his investment services to anyone looking to take their trading and net worth to the next level.\" EJP 6-14-12
I enjoy a lot being in the TUG it is a honor for me being part
of this community you have created, the 2 decades of experience you have is
a valuable present for all of us,
The group offers a great place to interact with others serious about optimizing opportunities and growing their skill sets. Fortunately, Hal is a great mentor and offers a vast array of knowledge. He shares openly in a warm and welcoming manor.
I have only been a member for a short time but I am already exceptionally pleased that this experience has exceeded expectations and enlightened my trader-mind.
Hal is the real deal.
I just love Hal\'s new PMT (Pre Market Trading)sessions. He has such a global view of where everything is sitting and how it is all intertwined. He gives great support and resistance levels to watch for during the day so we can get an idea of where the market is heading. In general, just being a member of the Traders User Group is so different from other subscription services where you are just a number with deep pockets. This is a real community of traders with Hal at the helm. He wants us all to protect our capital while making significant gains and showing us how to every step of the way. I love the monthly live sessions where he addresses our questions, our concerns, and our need for more knowledge. He is always spot on with what is needed at the time.
Hal offers an amazing service through his Trader User Group. Here is a guy who is obviously walking the walk instead of just talking. He knows what is needed to be a successful trader and you can learn it all from him. I would highly recommend his pre morning trade service. We all look at potential trades and how we can make money. He recently suggested two short trades on unleaded gasoline and the SPX which has made me enough money to pay for the service for 5 years!
I do a lot of market neutral trades, Condors, BF\'s and I had a great experience yesterday. With concerns of the debt debate I felt it a good idea to take profits early in an IWM iron butterfly, normally I would have simply exited the entire trade at one time, BUT after listening to Hal and seeing how he uses the Donchian channels fast MACD, and the 4 cross 12, I applied that to a five min chart. I closed the put credit spread at the high end of yesterday\'s run up, then following the signals closed the call credit spread at the lows of the day, I made a LOT more profit doing that than how I normally would have closed the trade. Bottom line what you learn in the trader group will be of benefit to you no matter what style of trading you do.
Dear Mr. Brent,
It was great to meet you and the members of your Trader User Group this past Saturday. I left the meeting with a whole new outlook towards trading.
I have been \"trading\" for a couple of years and have attended many seminars, other user groups and have also paid for \"coaching\" .........needless to say none compared to my first meeting with you. Risk management was one topic that was casually mentioned, nothing like your presentation.
Wow, I feel like I\'m starting down a new path with trading, one that I will be successful at.
Hal sent us an e-mail detailing a special commission rate he had negotiated for members who use Think or Swim. I emailed TOS and got the special rate. I figured out that what I am now saving in commissions per year will be more than the cost of joining the Traders User Group. I\'m in the process of moving one of my other accounts to TOS to save even more. This special rate alone is reason to join but you will get much more out of this group in the education and advice
Excellent site, already the information on risk management has more than paid for my yearly subscription. I see myself using this site daily as a way to continue my progress toward becoming a full time trader.
Excellent web site, I\'ve taken many courses on option trading and can say none of them offer as complete an explanation of risk management as does the Trader User Group. I feel this is a final piece in the puzzle to help me make the leap into full time trading.
I have been attending Hal\'s monthly Saturday sessions for over a year. I was really surprised at the time and knowledge that Hal was willing to share with the group and at the same time ask for nothing in return. Hal definitely has a passion for trading and teaching. Hal\'s guidance has been invaluable to me and has exposed me to many markets that I would have never entertained trading in. I have learned much from Hal, including trading Eminis, indicator setups and risk management. I now trade S&P Eminis on a daily basis and am beginning to see some success with my trading plan. I look forward to future sessions with Hal.
When I attend Hal\'s presentations I always learn something new. Rather than teaching us a narrowly defined trading method, Hal\'s approach is to teach us how to use data to increase our probability of success and develop our own trading style.
Hal constantly reminds us of the three pillars of good trading: Risk Management, charting analysis, and strategies.
Of the three, risk management has always been my \"weak suite\", and at the insistence of Hal, have had to buckle down and begin to learn this discipline. There is a lot to it, but have become committed. It now pervades my thinking on any trade I consider, and have to credit Hal\'s work for this dedication to assessing and applying risk in all the trading I do. It has already been beneficial in learning how to hedge a portfolio with options.
In 2009 after watching my stock portfolio cut in half from the recent market crash I had an epiphany. Buy and hold was no longer a viable way to make money. I started reading and studying about Options trading. I started looking for some advance training and I quickly found two things:
1. There are hundreds of courses being offered for $2,000 and up.
2. There are many “experts†proclaiming how you can make 100k a year by subscribing to their newsletters that costs $500-$1,000 per year. (if it sounds too good to be true….)
I wanted to find someone who could teach me about options on a personal basis without the BS and hype. I decided to search the meet up groups in my area and I found a local group headed Hal. I attended my first meeting and knew it was exactly what I was looking for.
Each month we go over a different topic and through the Traders User Group website there are now online webinars to further my knowledge. I have gained a solid understanding about the way the markets work and other factors that affect the daily fluctuations of the markets.
The knowledge of charting and reading the indicators has helped improve my trading. I am looking forward to learning more options strategies in future classes. I like to trade vertical spreads and a recent class we had on the Greeks has helped me understand how to use the delta in selecting the strike price to increase the probability of a successful trade.
The small price to help maintain the website is a pittance compared to the wealth of information available for the members and the personal help that Hal gives us.
Professionalism = Doing the job well and in a timely fashion. I witnessed professionalism recently and it is a good experience worth sharing … Earlier this week the new TUG website was launched. When my member password arrived I tried all the buttons. Everything worked perfectly except for the archived webinars. After a quick note to Hal I received a call from “Jack The Webmasterâ€. Jack checked to see if others (with older PC’s) might be having a similar problem. In about 24 hours, Jack sent back a note that the problem was fixed. Now that is a good example of professionalism.
Hals work with the Trader User Group has greatly expanded my knowledge of options and futures. He combines a thorough knowledge of the theoretical with a no-nonsense approach to making money. As the site grows its value will increase exponentially.
